You Didn’t Have Enough to Worry About
Because I still have the goddamn plague, have an old sketch. I do happen to have a stiff neck but so far no spinal meningitis. This sketch is relevant to my interests for another reason: spinal meningitis was an occasional result of prefrontal (holes-in-the-head) lobotomy. So Walter liked the ice pick method in part because it was faster and he could do it himself on the floor of a motel room, but he also liked it because it was less likely to give the patient a fatal infection. Ultimately it’s his moral ambiguity that makes me hang on to him like a dog with an old sock.
