Small Peculiar

All authors have one or two. Starting in the third volume he gets awfully fond of fey also. He uses it to mean “crazy,” not “of, like, or pertaining to a fairy” — I don’t think Middle-earth has fairies. When he says “Fair Folk” he means elves. It’s all quite confusing.
