Inkwell-Throwing: A History
As far as I can tell there are only three well-known instances of someone throwing an inkwell at someone else, and the one about Egas Moniz isn’t even that famous—I just have a weakness for Egas Moniz. Google “threw an inkwell” and you’ll get lots and lots of Martin Luther, punctuated here and there with Frances Farmer, who seems to have had the unfortunate habit of hitting people rather a lot. This makes me wonder if it might not have been better for her in the long run if she had been given a lobotomy. This tended to make people less violent, so that in many cases they could be sent home instead of spending years and years and years in an institution the way Farmer did.
