This is according to Milton in Paradise Lost. Sin started out as a beautiful woman, but giving birth to Death somehow turned her lower half into a tail.
The cat is my dear departed Attica, whom I found on the street on a very cold day. Her ears had frozen and snapped off, which is why they look like that here.
